There should be a pedestrian path on Benjamin Suaeb Street

Six in March ahead of the evening, as it passed in the former Kemayoran Jakarta airport runway which is now better known as H. Benjamin Suaeb Street, visible in the distance a mother with two small children were walking toward the north in the slow lane, the vehicle lane.

Benjamin Suaeb road width is approximately 40 meters is divided into two, to the north (Ancol). Each direction consists of three fast lanes and two of slow lanes. And there are still quite wide green belt on either side of the road, in which still can be used as a pedestrian path are comfortable and protected trees. But somehow, the place that should be used for sidewalks for pedestrian was in fact lined from end to end along both sides of this road. Even the formerly closed city sewers had now been opened up leaving no place for the pedestrian. So for the pedestrian where? Yes on the tarmac along with a vehicle!

That is why the mother with two children were walking in the slow lane, though called a slow lanes but the speed of vehicles that pass in there pretty tight. She intermittently looking back nervously fear hit by a passing vehicle.

Seeing these events like a reporter, immediately issued a cell phone camera - because don't have a real camera - and prepared to capture this exciting moment to be used as writing material. But since only a camera phone then the minimal facilities needed close enough to capture it and possibly because of a strong maternal instinct to protect her children, when she saw a vehicles coming slowed so she waved his hand to stop the vehicle. And without any hesitation or fear she asked me to allowed to ride.

Since only the self-styled journalist, seeing the environmental conditions in situ could not bring myself also reject the request, because the distance to a destination less than a mile in front. So I brought the mother and her two children to their destination, ie, Pasar Mobil Kemayoran.

From the story later revealed, that he wanted to meet her husband there to give the news that his parents were sick. Apparently his parents' health condition that made her determined to visit her husband at work and bring her two children in danger.

Jakarta oh!
