Climate change is one factor that influence the building materials which have reached hundreds of years. Sea surface conditions that continue to rise and land continues to fall slowly, not to mention the added weight of vehicles passing in the area gave rise to vibrations that affect the building and the environment as a whole.

Caring for the old building would require no small cost, let alone buildings in ancient times had nearly the average high and large shapes like the ones in this museum complex, which means having the floor, ceiling, and walls with a very wide surface so that lead to high maintenance costs.

The wood for the construction of buildings that range in size from 30 to 50 cm still a lot and can we meet there, though looks are also a lot of the wood that has been eaten by termites or any loss to be deducted because of rotting.

Maintaining old buildings because the value of history requires no small cost. Historical value is certainly not to show that this nation never colonized by a very long time, nor to make us feel inferior because it never colonized, but it rather should be used as a warning and a whip to get up and stay united so that previous mistakes of our ancestors scattered selfish group or yourself so easily colonized not recur.

Other historical value that can be taken one of them is the history of architecture - buildings, neighborhoods, and cities - as we are learning in laying out the next. Architecture always run concurrently with the civilization, the architecture allows us to easily recognize the civilization of a nation.

We can also learn where the good of all that has been implemented. From the shape of the building or environment that is simple to become a city like Jakarta chaos, of course, can be packed so that we do not repeat the same mistakes.

As a tourism asset, with no change in its original form, function areas and old buildings can be changed if necessary, in order to have value-added and still works.

The added value that does not mean he should be able to support herself let alone the region. As the building or the area he may not have the potential to feed itself, but if included in the urban scale has the potential to feed him instead of his city. The reason he still must be lived by the cities and even countries as a whole because the value of incoming foreign exchange resulting from the visits of tourists who go to a city or country is very large, this is the meaning of mutual aid.

Therefore the state and city managers in Indonesia should begin to think intelligently to manage tourism, ranging from tourism to preserve objects arrange tourist trips when traveling.

| May 16, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Owed ... Hobby Or Curse?

Either of when this problem started, but for this one seems to have become bad habits of the people of this country, and some have commented it had become the philosophy of life for most people. From the ordinary people until officials, from the poor until have a bad habit conglomerate, which owes.

Our country has an enormous debt to the thousands of trillions, what can be paid off, because this debt is not getting smaller but more and more bloated over the years and it seems like the organizers of the country did not take care about this. They continue to create new debts by mortgaging anything that could be pawned, using the term bonds, sukuk, and so that is basically for the debt!

Dig the hole cover the hole is terms that we commonly hear, but unfortunately it does not mean the hole is always the same size or smaller, which mostly occur precisely that hole deeper and bigger, it is not impossible that hole in the end to bury our own.

What causes this?

It seems no one can explain with certainty. Whether because of management or because of poor financial habits of the poor way of life, in terms of revenue (money) obtained is not to save or to increase business capital but rather used for consumption - buying something that is not really necessary - so that when necessary for the needs of the real money is not there anymore, and then eventually owe more debt.

For example, at the community level under the "earnings are preferred to buy cigarettes instead of savings", at a higher level "of income rather than be used as venture capital, but preferred to buy a vehicle".

We have to start to learn how to make money with smart or we'll never be able to change fate.

Many of friends who own businesses, even some form of business entity has been authorized. However, due to poor financial management, then owned businesses does not go forward, one of the causes is precisely because the income earned sizable lead he could not resist in the face of the needs that should still be postponed for a while.

Learning from the experience of others.

One surefire way to learn to manage money is to separate personal money with money for the effort. For those who open a private business even this principle must be held. So in its implementation can be done by studying how to pay for themselves, so even if it is self-owned business, still must be apportioned between business money with private money.

Sukarno had warned us not to become a nation of slaves. As to whether slaves? One bad habit of slaves, is owed money.

| May 10, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dassollen.blogspot.com/2011/08/owed-hobby-or-curse.html' title='Owed ... This addition to sidewalks along the pedestrian paths are made of paving block are also equipped with a green belt that lies between the pedestrian paths and sewers. Actually it would be better if the plant is placed in the path between the vehicle tracks and pedestrian paths, so that pedestrians are safer and protected. If so it is not really necessary anymore placed pots of plants with a certain distance, so the pedestrian is becoming more widespread. Or if you want can be placed on the side sewers and among plant pots can be placed furniture, such as seating, garden lighting, public phones at certain distances.

The sidewalk on the north side is flanked by asphalt roads and open sewers of the channel is large enough, more shade than those in the south. Around the trees shade, barrier made of brick with a height between 10-30 cm and width 70 x 70 cm, so it is still possible for the tree to develop themselves. Tub construction of this barrier is not so strong, so that when the tree was bigger then the walls began to crack and split. Weak construction of this barrier there is also a good idea for the tree so as not to interfere with its development. Although made quite low, limiting it could still serve to sit down when passing pedestrians there want to take a break to unwind.

Shade trees in place is also possible to invite vendors to sell fruit ice there. At midday the heat is certainly tempting pedestrians want any riders who thirst as they travel over the place to pause and enjoy the fresh fruit that is served ice cold especially coupled atmosphere of shady trees ... yeah, it's a pleasure.

What there is set or not, certainly, the architectural placement of the cart on the side street perpendicular to the axis of the road with a certain distance is a pretty good way of placement for the view of passing motorists there. However, placing such a way as to be annoying pedestrian, because the width of the sidewalk that does not amount to much.

Sidewalks if only for us to walk or bike ride still need well-designed, each placement should be regulated properly, such placement electric poles and signposts were not just a place of origin, is necessary for the pedestrian path to look neat and orderly, so users pavement was happy and comfortable to walk on it, especially if the sidewalks could be equipped with seating, lighting, public telephone, trash, and others are including in the section of street furniture.

Likewise, the placement of street vendors, could have allowed the origin still needs to be arranged with certain distances or certain places in order not to disturb sidewalk users.

No less important is the cleanliness of the environment must be maintained. The fruit ice merchants and friends other merchants selling goods on sidewalks should certainly be able to keep the environment clean by throwing trash in the trash. What about the cleanliness of the water to wash a bowl or glass? I hope that this too has become the attention of traders.

Clean and beautiful environment that will ensure our health, which could ultimately improve the welfare as well, because the cost for treatment can be reduced and can be used for other purposes.

Healthy environment, healthy people, welfare increases.

| May 02, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Chalwanka

Friday afternoon, when entering from the parking lot on the third floor Atrium Senen, from underneath the sound blaring instrumental music with melodies that sound different from what we usually hear.

Looked down briefly does not see on performances of music, which was only many visitors. And as we all know that the circle does have something called the center or axis.

So do not be surprised if the Colosseum, the Amphitheater, or any places where the show usually takes the forms of circles, either in the form of a quarter, half, elliptical, up to a full circle.

| March 28, 2010 | samidirijono | arsitek |

There should be a pedestrian path on Benjamin Suaeb Street

Six in March ahead of the evening, as it passed in the former Kemayoran Jakarta airport runway which is now better known as H. Each direction consists of three fast lanes and two of slow lanes. And there are still quite wide green belt on either side of the road, in which still can be used as a pedestrian path are comfortable and protected trees. But somehow, the place that should be used for sidewalks for pedestrian was in fact lined from end to end along both sides of this road. Even the formerly closed city sewers had now been opened up leaving no place for the pedestrian. So for the pedestrian where? Yes on the tarmac along with a vehicle!

That is why the mother with two children were walking in the slow lane, though called a slow lanes but the speed of vehicles that pass in there pretty tight. Of the cases Prita, Century, Antasari, spending forced the TNI offices residents of the house, or even to cases not being completed like Munir, the kidnapping of activists, and Lapindo.

While on the other hand in terms of drafting act and legislation, are not much different from the legal cases themselves, tangled!

Starting from unloading pairs Constitution (UUD'45) up to four times, the actual time the student movement (reform) have rotated the main demand is only down Suharto in power for too long because there are no restrictions on the term of office. Section 7 UUD'45 "The President and Vice-President holds office for five years and thereafter may be re-elected" that should have stayed added words such as "for the last time."

But what happen is all the article ransacked and severity are not studied well an early draft meeting notes makers, so they can understand the intent of each article or section is written there. And it is said is said in the amendment that no involvement of foreign hands to include their interests, really?

Flashback

When you open it and then go back and check our UUD'45, in many chapters, articles made its derivatives which mandated that law to itemize the intent and purpose clauses earlier. So that is why why in the article or paragraph UUD'45 many have the word "determined or regulated by statute."

And when we read in the Additional Rules UUD'45 clearly stated in point 1, that "Within six months after the end of the Greater East Asia war, the President of Indonesia to organize and conduct all matters set forth in this Constitution."

While, so many laws and regulations adopted that have not been adjusted to UUD'45. The Book of Criminal Law or Civil, Disorder Act (Hinder Ordinance), and many more products to our laws which is a colonial product, which actually needs to be changed or adjusted its contents with the spirit of our Constitution, namely the spirit rather than to the interests of the government (read: colonial rulers), but are meant more to the interests of the people or the public. And do not forget, Indonesia was formed and proclaimed as a Republic (public affairs) is for that. But that's actually the fact that now there is!

So that should happen, not the Constitution that has not been properly applied a modified, so the result we now hesitate to use presidential or parliamentary system?

Now

When we no longer have the legal basis for a strong, when the legal tools already do not care, when the law could be tweaked and perception can also be turned upside down, when the law into favoritism, when the law is no longer rely on the justice, when the law officers is no longer fair, the people became do not have a grip, people became legal tangled will eventually not care about the law. When the law was weakened in its implementation as a few examples of the above and the indifference of the people were very visible in everyday things like the traffic rules was breached.

Plus the making of the products or the rule of law hardly has the spirit of justice, which advanced more in the spirit of the threat and materials. All legal products prefer to put money until the millions of rupiah as a sanction, on the other hand the level of prosperity and the ability of the people is very far below it. Examples of sanctions in the Traffic Act that is worth millions of rupiah and the hot issue is about Marriage Act plan news is about the news in regulating nikah siri--establish a marriage without a marriage registrar officials. Meanwhile, to make a marriage in front of the registrar marriage officer must require that the cost of not a few, both for official fees or not, which certainly is a burden to people who in general are still below the level of ability.

This is exacerbated by imposition of sanctions against a lawsuit, it is very visible occurrence of injustice. Taking cocoa immediately arrested and threatened with punishment six months, while taking billions still be free to roam the grounds not found the articles for catching them and if any threat of punishment is only a few years.

Laws that need to be placed forward in fact that is not based on mere procedural but how justice is upheld, as it is said chairman of the Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD in a religious ceremony in one of the private TV station on Sunday, February 21, 2010.

For the several decades we have been accustomed to living without a good rule, and if repairs to improvement starts from now will still need at least a generation or two longer to get to the rule of law in our country. But surely this should be done from now by the whole community that will no longer due to legal sanction makes us doubt it would be legal.

| February 21, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Indonesian Language No Need Good and Right

Youth congress in 1928 with phenomenal results of the Youth Pledge, which one it reads, "We are sons and daughters of Indonesia upholds the unity of language, Indonesian language," until eventually affirmed in our Constitution as the State Language.

It has been nearly 100 years it happened, but until now society can not speak Indonesian very well and correctly.

Learning Indonesian language is not easy, given the Indonesian itself is still growing to this day, not to mention coupled with government support that can be said to be less good in this regard.

Great Dictionary of Indonesian Language (KBBI)--before it, used General Indonesian Dictionary, written by Poerwadarminta--is the official reference issued by the government through the Center for Language. Then compare with the number of families or people in this Republic, would reach one percent of the population? So do not be surprised if people do not speak Indonesian well and correctly.

If the government really wants people could speak Indonesian very well and correctly, then the government should provide subsidies for this dictionary so it affordable by the community and the government need not think to take advantage of the sale of this dictionary. Another step that can be done is to invite the cooperation of private parties as a sponsor, in this case could have private publishers, or simply use government-owned publishing so as not to burden the private sector.

Indeed the government through the Language Center has issued an Indonesian Dictionary (KBI) for school consumption in the form of an electronic dictionary that can be downloaded for free. But even this does not seem to be too serious, because the stated amount of the dictionary is contains 1826 pages but only have 1630 pages--that means there are approximately 200 pages of missing, there is also chaos on the part of the final entry in the preparation of the letter "B", and not to mention plus the absence of the letter "P" in the full version of the dictionary. Have all the contents of the dictionary was correct? Could this be the dictionary handbook for school and community? What this sign was not serious when the official books (although free) error occurred and the lack of up to 200 pages? He thinks this happened because the ground has been covered by all buildings so that such a large rainfall can not be absorbed by the soil.

Talk about this flood light conversation reminded us again some time ago. One of the causes is direct rainwater hits the ground is because departement of landscape have a habit is wrong, ie, prune trees during the rainy season. Indeed the reason for pruning is usually a broken tree branch or branches of trees are feared to be too low for vehicles passing underneath.

Do not know how in other cities, but in Jakarta we noticed there has been changes to the way that the tree trimming, this is happening since the era of Sarwo Handayani, trees trimmed or they cut--because usually after trimming only remaining large trunk--already much higher than the previous era. What had been "cutting" of trees held at a height of two to three meters, on Handayani era have been carried out at a height of 3 to 5 meters, although the cuts are still relatively the same way, ie tripe so only remaining the large trunk.

By way of trimming like that, someday some buds that will grow into a new branch of the former tends to occur around the stem was cut and also the one that resulted from broken tree branches at a later date, other than because angsana trees that usually planted on the shoulders of roads in Indonesia from Jakarta, Sabang to Merauke, indeed not of the type of hard wood plants that are not easily broken. However, due to the application of the wrong policies (uniformity) at the age ago, these plants eventually became a kind of plant can we find a mandatory throughout the country.

Planting angsana used to replace the previous acacia, originally only intended as a temporary plant that serves to shade and absorbing pollution, because both of these plants is rapid growth. The next plan is on the sidelines of this tree line will be planted with perennial tree species that are not easily broken, in order to replace these trees angsana later, but this plan never materialized.

One large and leafy tree function is that it can withstand rain water that poured from the sky in order not to fall directly onto the surface of the earth (soil), but this function did not realized by us all, because now it is rare that there are large trees that can shade as a shelter in times of rain. Whereas large trees shade can hold water within a half to one hour before the water is dripping or flowing through the rod and this means giving opportunities that exist on the surface of the ground water seep or flow first, so this became one of the elements of flood prevention.

Tree with a lot of leaves have a wide surface area so it can function to accommodate large amounts of water. That is also why in times of rain the tree branches to be lower than normal or even be broken due to the weight load was large enough water. So should the trees not be cut in times of rainy season, if any, should be forced to cut only to the particular branch has become too low.

This article can complement "Banjir Karena Ulahku" that I wrote before writing this.

| February 18, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Parking Area Whose Responsibility?

Incidentally this afternoon appointment with someone at the Mall of Indonesia (MOI), Kelapa Gading, thought also to buy a camera battery in there. But no one sells batteries in there. The friendly clerk explained that the camera batteries can be bought at the service center not far from the location and provide tiny scrap of paper containing the address of their center services.

Service center address is not far away, at Raya Boulevard Barat streets in ruko complex, people used calls like that. Ruko or shophouses (home-store) despite the fact that the building was just a store, because the owner very rarely live in, if any who lives there is usually only the shopkeepers. This occurred reputedly due to make a shophouses license is easier than permission to make a shop. If it's true, of course weird rules like that huh?

As the condition of a row of shophouses mostly along the Boulevard Kelapa Gading, if we look around the parking area shophouses there nearly all typical of the same, namely the condition of the street parking is almost the average damage. Though the parking fee in the first hour Rp3,000.00 and Rp1,500.00 for each additional hour, we still too find the condition of damaged roads of parking areas not being repaired. Why so?

Several years ago, Indonesian Institute of Architects have been invited to attend a meeting of interested parties in there, such as local government (local government) and local developers to find common ground between them about the parking conditions in Kelapa Gading. I happened to be sent from the Chairman of IAI that time to attend the meeting. Meeting one of which discusses the problem of parking there, in which each interested party have different views about who is actually bearing the burden of responsibility for repairs in the parking lot.

Departure from there back to this question could disturb the mind, "Is to this day still occur between the developers throwing responsibility with local governments?" Where developers are not willing to repair roads on the grounds, because the regional government has withdrawn charges to park there, so it is a government obligation to repair a damaged parking area, while local governments do not feel the need to repair that road because that road has not handed over to local government. If so, who is harmed due to the different views? Of course, shop owners and visitors shop, because the condition of the parking lot of the damaged area becomes uncomfortable to drive there. Weird if repair parking areas should become the responsibility of shop owners?

Hopefully the bad roads conditions in the existing parking area is not because they still lead to the same issues. But it could be something like this is also happening in other places and it seems the community or the public right to sue the relevant parties if this is really happening, with consumer protection laws of course.

And even more weird, in Jakarta in particular, is everywhere why pay for parking!

| February 10, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Sex and Architecture

This is lifted from the explanation at the request of a friend, a senior architect, about the implementation of Sex and Architecture Seminar, which quote this request "please explain a little intention of the theme, don't till the 'hot' come eeh no nothing ..."

Uh pretended not to know or just want to testing huh? Because the architect's must understood about the architecture and understand sex right he.he.he...

Well here is a brief description of the purpose of the seminar's Sex and Architecture. Expected from this seminar, there is no relationship or both have -- between sex and architecture.

For example, a hot Marilyn Monroe in one of the roles in the film The Seven Year Itch in 1954 there was a scene that waved raise the skirt just above the place (hole) that there is strong winds that blow up. Michael Jackson is also in one of his stage act play with the exhaled air from below. Marilyn and Michael are two people with different genders but they liked the scene winds.

The effect produced by the wind was different for men and women. The woman seemed embarrassed and tried to cover up her skirt flying wind affected, while the men even made the breeze to create an impression that power. In terms of architecture, the designer must be good at putting wind direction in order not to be vulgar, to display two opposite impression. That's the picture of sex and architecture.

Another example, if we look at Tugu Monas (National Monument) many argue that building is masculine because that display masculinity man (phallus). But what it really represents only the masculine? If we want to consider with a deeper sense, it represents the top of Monas loving relationship between man and woman (husband and wife) are reciprocal. Not believe?

Take a look and observe Monas. In sexology, that's represents the position where women is on top of men. Not to believe, too? See the picture, imagine in your mind there form the penis (phallus) which penetrate the vagina (yoni). Monas so it's not just a symbol of masculinity, but rather as a symbol of love that must be built in this country. Just the people have not realized, so they still fight each other all the time.

That explanation personal version, if you want to know more obvious explanation please read the leaflet, but if you want to know the details, please come to the seminar Sex and Architecture 25-26 March 2010 at Tarumanagara University Campus, he.he.he. ...

| March 11, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Source is an e-mail to Firdauzy Noor on 10 March 2010.

Source images from the Internet and private collections.

Taxes for What?

A few days ago during a visit to the death of the mother of college friend, whose living in America with her husband who was blond and have long settled in San Francisco.

Returned to Indonesia with her husband to visit her sick mother, but not long after that her mother passed away. Her mother left with smiling faces and glowing skin ... Hopefully her mistakes can be forgiven, her sins are forgiven, and welcomed back into the presence of the Almighty. Everything comes from Him and will return to Him .. Amen.

She originally wanted to retire and live in Indonesia, her homeland. When she saw what had happened to her mother in the hospital, made her think back to spent the old days here. According to the life of all regular and guaranteed there, is very different from here. Then for the purpose of convenience, we chatted casually.

From this casual conversation is raised the subject of the tax collected by the state. Although she have been settled there and only a few times a year to visit parents and relatives here, she always followed the development of her country, so know that here the government began to emphasize to the ownership NPWP (the number of taxpayers subject) to each citizen. About this tax she proposed a very simple question, "Did you know that tax money is used by the government for what?" And she seems to think taxpayers here are too stupid or naive because they do not know much tax is used for what.

Where the tax money?

In San Francisco any tax paid by the taxpayer to the government will return to the taxpayer again later on when he retired. So the tax paid by the taxpayer was only a kind of no-interest loans for the government to run the wheels of government. That is why the residents there have a sense to pay taxes.

Taxpayers starting in the second year will receive financial reports from the IRS, which contains among other things how much money has been deposited and how much benefits will be received at the time the taxpayer retired every month, as well as important also reported that tax money have been deposited is used for what. So the transparency of taxation there is very clear. And because it is a kind of loan to the government so that taxpayers can influence public policy by the government.

While in here, the tax was still a kind of tribute--like in the colonial era--which must be deposited by the people to the ruler. The results of the tax was never returned to us, it was considered return in physical form, such as for road improvements. While in San Francisco was not a tax return in the form of road repairs or something, but eventually will return to taxpayers in the same form that has been deposited, that is, as annuities when retirement or when we suddenly had no job, aka unemployed.

Depart from San Francisco, this experience helps us all, including the government began to clean themselves, especially in matters of taxation. In order for any society to know the benefits of paying taxes so has awareness of paying taxes so that people feel not only as a mere cash cow as long as it is felt by the taxpayers.

| February 8, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

das Sein und das Sollen

February 12, yesterday I created a blog again. Initially a simple idea, so that foreigners can also read the writings that have been published in the balai jumpa, so in other words made an English version.

It's just takes time to translate again, but fortunately, in this present era everything is much easier. Translator tool has many, either paid or free, it saves time and each have their own advantages. The final decision is to use google translation tool - here is more popularly called uncle google. They called uncle probably because took the idea from Uncle Sam (United States), Uncle Scrooge, Uncle Donald, Uncle Klutz, or Uncle Doblang he.he.he. ..

The question arises whether the translation is accurate? But to save time so that the choice had to be taken and what's more usually translated books are also deliberately did not seem as good and complete as the original, such as books published by the Japanese which was translated into English, certainly not as complete as the original, or translated into English-speaking Indonesian, too many important parts missing, only written in Indonesian language are usually more complete and well in the English version.

Various reasons that why it seems to happen and therefore precisely one reason why the new blog was created simply with the help of Uncle Google only.

When searching for a title for the web logs also proved difficult because many of the words that have been used by another person. The final step is to open KBBI (Great Dictionary of Indonesian) Third Edition--the new dictionary is very expensive--and see the words "das Sein dan das Sollen". Das Sein means the actual situation at the present time, while das Sollen means what aspired; what should be there later. Both were taken from the German word and is very appropriate because that's the purpose of creation das Sein und das Sollen and balai jumpa.

| February 13, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Research Results Do not Just Stacked in Warehouses

Reading the daily Kompas on Saturday, February 6, 2010 about Solar Cell Laboratory Hartika is really ironic. What was done by researchers Hartika as solar cell production for 30 years, it has not produced results so far.

Whereas in 1996, as a form of gift exchange with the Malaysian Government in the form of three cars is the Proton Saga car that national pride that neighbor country, President Suharto gave 50 solar cell panels Hartika research. Suharto wanted to show Indonesia was no less advanced in technology by showing the solar cell technology.

"Although Indonesia has been started, according to Hartika, neighboring countries, like Singapore and Malaysia, was the first to manufacture solar cells. It's not because they are experts who can first make solar cells, but this is more because governments of these countries dared decided to make solar cell industry. "

After study at Electronics Department Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), she joined the National Electronics Institute (LEN). Then the opportunity to explore solar cell technology in Osaka, Japan and studying it in several countries in Europe, Asia, United States, too.

Hartika obtain grace Satyalancana Development of President Suharto (1997). He got the award for his role in the Field of Strategic Industry Development Division: Process and Production of Solar Cell Components, Solar Power for One Million Houses. And thanks to the consistency, loyalty, and the technology of solar cell production process in June 2007, Hartika confirmed as a research professor by the Head of LIPI Djenie Anggara Umar. A month later, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Karya Satya confer XXX Satyalancana for him. But strangely, until now, two years before retirement Hartika, there is no manufacturing for solar cells in Indonesia, and our country in this equator solar cells are needed, its a gift from the God.

Nawa Tunggal in coverage in Kompas said that it's a shame, self-reliance in this technology, the government is still limited to express appreciation. The researchers would expect the government immediately implement of their technological research.

It's ironic because for a researcher not complete it if only to a limited appreciation. Such as an architects, researchers feel more appreciated when their works can be realized and implemented for real, is not it?

To move forward, Indonesia must have the courage to provide a budget for research and the government must dare to mobilize or coordinate the cooperation of private parties in this country to realize the results of research carried out, so that research results are not just stacked in the warehouse and a waste of money.

| February 7, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Jade of the Equator

The invitation from A friend to attend the closing ceremony Singkawang photography exhibition "Jade of the Equator" which was held at the Gallery Salihara, Jakarta was able to add the own insights.

The exhibition has been going on since the date of January 24, 2010 was closed by presenting the traditional arts performances Singkawang area, West Kalimantan, which combined with the implementation of the photography contest, this is the main attraction, especially for photography enthusiasts and also for visitors who were there.

Traditional arts are shown demonstrating the science of immunity to the accompaniment of drum beats and tinkling bells worn by the players were able to establish the desired atmosphere.

One of the players showed he was immune to the chair that has been paired with three blade-shaped sharp objects such as machetes, placed behind a piece of sharp objects in an upright position, whereas the left and right arm chair fitted with a piece of sharp objects other

Another attraction is the movement slicing cheek or tongue with the saber - the Dayak traditional weapons. Falling rain did not hinder the spirit of the photographers in the target and pursue their quarry to get the best moment. Quite difficult indeed to take the best moment in such an atmosphere of frenzy by more than a hundred photographers fought each other to pursue their quarry.

Our homeland consisting of various tribes and cultures have their art forms and play a variety of agility also, which is similar like the whistle, lumping horse, reog, or others such as dances, karapan cow, implanted jali, who when packaged properly can certainly be made for tourist attraction for each region, plus the support of our nature which is also beautiful.

The government does not need to take over everything as it had always done, the government from the highest to the lowest level sufficient as a facilitator and promoter. At a higher level under which to coordinate and so on until the lowest, by the way and work together shoulder to shoulder like that then the whole will be well coordinated. Various activities are in the ground water can be scheduled and planned well in one package homeland calendar of events, each region must have a different agenda and should not be equated, the need is to be promoted together in a single calendar of events.

In this way, tourists will know which areas have what activities and when, so they can design a tour schedule and goals clearly. Like anybody set all this by exploiting the students emotions and the these efforts seems to generate the public did not sympathize with the student movement. It was different when the student movement that occurred in 1998 that Suharto had dropped from the top leadership of this country after no less than 32 years in power.

Public sympathy flowing at that. Suharto's downfall was predictable with the death of 4 students in the event of May 12, 1998, remembering the same thing happens when a student died in demonstrations in 1966. Looks like history always repeats itself, the struggle seems to always take his own son. Riots in various cities which followed the death of the students have looked like in the scenario, in which time was not seen any police or soldiers on the streets. You could still see in memory when the riots that occurred in May 14, 1998, that almost all of the unrest when it begins with burning tires. Out of nowhere came, suddenly there are a lot of vehicle tires on the street later in the burn, then there was looting, burning the vehicles and buildings going on there. Who is supplying the tires? Who started looting and burning? Never knew to this day.

Students needs to set back their strategy of struggle if they want to succeed in the fight for their idealism. Sympathetic ways should be used so as not easily provoked into the activities that will not attract public sympathy. Burning tires in the demonstrations would not bring goodness, even be shunned by the public, as we have seen in recent years. Public no longer sympathetic, and even the public was still traumatized memory of arson and riots that occurred in various cities in May 1998 and thereafter. When examined that it was precisely one of the reasons why the last time a student demonstration against fuel price increases never reached a satisfactory outcome.

So now it seems the students have to study again the history of student struggle and if you want to get public sympathy, what for they struggle. As the term "Jas Merah" is often touted by the Bung Karno, "Don't once in a while to Forget History!

Students must use the ways that convey the aspirations elegant in order not easily provoked by the parties want to reduce their action. Because once provoked, the struggle toward the ideal you want will be lost.

Public expectations of the student movement is that their intellectual level always be more clear and independent in view the problems occurred in the country, and make changes toward improvement attaining the ideals of freedom, namely the just and prosperous.

Students, return your movement to the goals and ideals of your struggle.

| January 29, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Raya Pejaten and Pedestrian

Friday afternoon, January 15, 2010, without pre-planned suddenly arose the desire to walking enjoy the atmosphere in the area Pejaten, precisely on Jalan Raya Pejaten. To get to this area can be reached by public transport buses Transjakarta, Kuningan route to Ragunan and get off at bus stop Pejaten, and then from there we are a short walk to enter the Raya Pejaten streets

As usual, because the location of bus stops in the median of the road to reach the side of the road we can walk through the ramp that is connected to the bridge crossing. Arriving at the side of street we just a short walk to the south along the existing sidewalk to the intersection and like other sidewalks in many places in Jakarta, the sidewalks here are not too wide. At the end of the intersection, just across the left-hand corner of the way looks the building Pejaten Mall dominated by red color. This sidewalk turned left and ended at a bridge where there is a small stream below. This is the end of the pavement marker that we have reached the end of the Pejaten Raya streets.

<style="float:right; 0="" 10px="" img="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__A4lUHZGYuI/S1r2Fzy4dcI/AAAAAAAAABw/wG7aA-BaK9Q/s200/pejatenraya0355.jpg" border="0" alt=""></style="float:right;>Furthermore because there is no longer the sidewalk so pedestrians can continue his journey by a paved road or on land where trees are planted beetween a roadblock and small sewers in the local construction fence. Really nice walk in here, because we are protected from the sun by a row of large trees and shade-grown starting line up at a certain distance of a majority of the side of the road. But quite dangerous because it could be any time we are harmed by a passing vehicle hit there.

As for walking on our land can not be too comfortable, because there are trunks of trees planted there, and lined on the ground that it functioned for the planting of shade trees are also useful as an amplifier of lung local area. So pretty pedestrian inconvenience and not comfortably to walk in this environment. This is exacerbated by the placement of the stone marker pal areas as we looks at the bus stop located there. Pal bookmark this region is placed without good planning, so the more disturbing for the convenience of pedestrians, especially near the shelter was also made fence that increasingly narrow pedestrian area. How pedestrians through there? (See photo)
Citizen initiative closed sewers with concrete can inspire for creating path for pedestrians, except for the difference in height with an exit vehicle still needs to be adjusted so as not to interfere with the comfort of both.

If local governments can take the initiative to provide cover sewers (drains) are there on the edge of the road, so pedestrians would feel safer and more secure safety walking in this area. Of course this does not need to cover the full casted on the sewers, but with enough concrete with a certain width and length so that at times can still be opened if you want to carry out cleaning sewers, as we can meet at some location in this way made by local building owners.

Shelter areas also need to set back, especially in terms of placement and guardrail markers pal region so users can enjoy the city's facilities have been provided. The court could stop a little widened to pal region marker can be shifted and placed there, so people can walk more freely. As for the fence, what should a fence be placed there?

Local governments and city governments in Indonesia need to change this condition, with more to promote security, safety, and comfort of road users, not only for drivers of vehicles but also for pedestrians. Implementation could be done at once or gradually adapted to the financial condition of each area. Which if implemented in a gradual implementation schedule should be determined and achievement targets, for example, this year held for the left side of road 100 meters, 100 meters next year again, so to complete. People happy, the government was pleased.

The journey came to an end after reaching the destination, on campus Next Academy. Palace complex is now surrounded by iron fence looming, did not like before where we could still feel the warmth when passing around the palace complex. Now with the height of the fence that reaches more than 2-fold higher initially then when we look at the castle would look like a row of iron bars of a prison. While the prisoner are behind bars was none other than the buildings in the complex's buildings and the people who are in it.

Palace today is different than when in the time of President Abdurrahman Wahid, an era in which grassroots can enter the palace with more free even for just used sarong and flip flops. In those days the palace was feels owned by the people, the people can feel a palace that is friendly to them. Earlier era, namely in the new order regime is not easy for ordinary people to enter the palace and at the next era of protocol rules palace were slowly but surely began to be tightened again, not easy for ordinary people to enter the palace. There are restrictions that must be obeyed, from small things like a pair of shoes that were a prerequisite if we want to meet with the president or vice president.

Still reflected in our memory, since the full disgrace in May 1998 the architectural environment our experiencing change, violence and violence affects directly or indirectly into buildings around us. For reasons of security the priority was building a high fence. State building was a row from the National Monument (Monas), Bank Indonesia, building people's representatives (the parliament), the Attorney General building, Istiqlal Mosque, until the presidential palace was not spared is lined with high fences.

With the fence a height far more high from an human, cause the public have a big question. What's happen with my country? Is this country not safe now until the buildings of the state high court must be high fenced?

Is there no rules governing of the limits fence height? If the rule exists, why did this happen? Moreover, it also occurs in state buildings, which makes as if the violator rules commanded by the state buildings.

Another question, where are the rights of the public to see and enjoy the city when the public spaces have been filled by the fences that towered?

| January 22, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

The Cart and Sidewalk

The day was Tuesday morning, January 12, 2010 by going to the place of work until Monday at the intersection towards Tugu Tani who could not then have to turn straight to take a route through the Kwini 1 streets, but only until the building of National Awakening (STOVIA) vehicles must stop because the queue of vehicles long enough due to the traffic lights are too long. It was not making this up to say so, given a beggar, moving from a place of traffic lights have been installed to the place where I was riding the vehicle stops.

While still waiting for the queue, on the sidewalk looked a man and his cart stopped patiently waiting line of vehicles that still did not move.
Apparently, the cart can not continue along the pavement is not far because there are stakes in front of her, stone, and a narrow planter pavement making it impossible to pass by the cart. So to go on the cart had to go down past the paved road reserved for vehicles, but for that he also had to be patient waiting for a vehicle that was stopped waiting for traffic lights at the other end is not yet green lit.

The width of the existing pavement width is only about 1.5 meter or five feet (five foot) and luckily the narrow sidewalks are not used by the traders to open a stall selling there as we can be found on sidewalks that are usually located at the points in the crowd as offices, shopping centers, or shelter. However, although not occupied by traders, these pavements still can not be used for the cart through there comfortably, because at certain points there are just things that can disrupt the user experience on the sidewalk there.

In addition to planned the streets, the users comfort is related matters to think about, street scape and street furniture, such as drainage systems, utility systems, electrical, and equally important is the user experience sidewalks, accessories such as garbage cans, lawn chairs, and trees would be more comfortable, since we are in the tropics. Time has come for the government of our cities begin to think of things like this from when started making the city development plan, considering the city is to where we live together.

After waiting long enough, eventually vehicle began to move slowly but the man with cart seems still had to wait a while longer to continue his journey.

| January 15, 2010 | samidirijono | architect |

Welcome to the rendezvous....

Duration in doubt
Reading the world around
Open windows
Face forward
The road is no longer beautiful
Environment is no longer friendly
Can weak strong influence
View for the view
Let it flow
Like rain on dry land
In order to grow branches and twigs

To enlightenment
Jakarta, 13 January 2010
